Responsible Gambling

Casino gambling can be fun for most people. The same can be said of the South Dakota Video Lottery. Some players can develop a gambling problem. There are ways to get help if you are one of those people. You do not need to wait. There are actions that you can take right now.

Counseling services

The National Council on Problem Gambling has a 24-hour hotline. The number is 800-522-4700. It is staffed with professionals that can find you the help that you need near where you live. The group advocates for problem gambling funding when gambling is legalized and expanded. They understand the issues that can come from it and are there to help wherever you need it.

Gamblers Anonymous is another group that specializes in treating problem gambling. It has support meetings all over the country.

The South Dakota Lottery works with Gamblers Anonymous to treat players that have a problem with video lottery or any other form of gambling. The number is 888-781-HELP. The South Dakota Lottery also partners with the National Council on Problem Gambling.

No self-exclusion mandate in South Dakota

South Dakota does not have any mandated self-exclusion at its casinos. Its tribal gambling compacts also are not required to provide these services. Video lottery establishments are not required to maintain a self-exclusion list. This can make it difficult to get away from unwanted gambling. That is why it is so important to seek help when you need it.

Regulated gaming apps like horse racing and daily fantasy in South Dakota do tend to have limits and self-exclusion. Players may set a deposit or bet limit in the app.
