The Deadwood Gulch property is slowly reopening. The hotel and restaurant are on operation. The casino floor now has 41 machines. It is open from 7am to 10pm daily. Read the Deadwood Gulch sold story on our blog.

We have not had a chance to visit Deadwood Gulch since it reopened. The information below is from a visit under the previous owners.

Deadwood Gulch is located on the outskirts of Deadwood near the Lead city limits on Highway 85 South. Deadwood Gulch attracts many bus tours from out of state and the casino floor is often busy, even during the off-peak season. This is unusual for a casino in its part of town.

In addition to gaming, Deadwood Gulch offers a variety of amenities. These include a hotel, bakery, fudge shop, liquor store and restaurant. The Deadwood Trolley will take visitors to Main Street and other attractions from Deadwood Gulch.

Deadwood Gulch casino

Deadwood Gulch offers a variety of slot machines in denominations starting at one cent up to $5. Both video slots and old-fashioned reel slots are available. Currently, there are 41 machines available with plans for more.

Deadwood Gulch video poker

Deadwood Gulch video poker offerings are like most Deadwood video poker offerings. There are two banks of video poker machines. In one bank there are nine games available on the Game Kings. The best game is the high variance Double Double Bonus Poker Plus. It pays back 95.1%. Other offerings on this bank are 6/5 Jacks or Better (95%), 10/8/5 Bonus Poker (94.18%), 7/5 Double Bonus (93.1%), 6/5 Double Double Bonus (94.65%), 15/10 Deuces Wild (94.82%), 6/5 Joker Poker (94.27%), 6/5 Triple Double Bonus Poker (93.86%) and 7/5 Blackjack Poker (94.9%). Denominations are penny, nickel, quarter, half dollar and dollar. The pay scales are identical on all denominations.

The other set of video poker machines offer nickel, quarter and dollar denominations. These games are a bit better than the other bank. The best game, coming in at 97.58%, is 20/12 Deuces Wild. Other games include 9/6/4 Double Bonus (96.4%), 6/5 Bonus Poker (96.87%), 6/5 Jacks or Better (95%), 7/5 Joker Poker (95.32%) and 7/5 Double Double Bonus (95.71%).

When playing video poker and slot machines, players earn 1 point for every $3 wagered. Every $300 wagered earns $1 in free play. This makes the return .33%. Free play can be activated directly on the slot machines using your player’s card and PIN number. Players are also mailed personalized offers that include free slot play and free hotel rooms. This players card also works at the Deadwood Gulch Casino on Main Street. This is a small slot parlor across from Tin Lizzie. The only game available besides slots at Deadwood Gulch on Main Street is South Dakota video lottery machines.

Dining at Deadwood Gulch

The Creekside Restaurant is open from 7am-1:30pm daily. Breakfast is served from 7-11am. Lunch is served after 11am.

The Fireside Lounge offers lunch, dinner and late-night options. It is located at the bar inside the casino. Menu items include burgers, sandwiches and fried food. Seating is available on the back patio.

Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel

The Deadwood Gulch hotel is a Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel. The nonsmoking hotel is located at the end of the Mickelson Trail, which is convenient for guests that would like to take advantage of the trail for biking, hiking or snowmobiling.

Resort amenities

Amenities include free WiFi, a hot tub, guest computers and fitness room. The Creekside Convention Center provides room for up to 120 guests. Free on-site parking is available.

Rooms and suites

The Deadwood Gulch hotel offers both interior hotel rooms as well as exterior motel type rooms. Rooms include refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, alarm clock, iron/ironing board, TV and workspace. Standard rooms feature a single king or two queen beds.

Suite options include a Family suite with two queen beds, a Honeymoon suite and Presidential suite. The Honeymoon and Presidential suites include a king bed, jetted bathtub, wet bar and sitting area. Additionally, the Presidential suite has a fireplace, second TV and kitchenette.
